Introducing Team Picks

The Daily Link Fix, like everything, is getting better with age and will now be including daily Team Picks. It’s going to be very sassy, watch out. Just like this site! I’ll be getting back to people who’ve gotten in touch with me and formalizing our people/content-related desires (in the form of a post) pretty soon.

Adventures in Feminist Wedding Planning – Jessica Valenti on when politics get personal (@ feministing)

This guy has a lot of feelings about facebook [also, speaking of — we know our facebook page link isn’t working, that’s ’cause we haven’t made autostraddle a facebook page yet]: “Down with Facebook!” (@theweeklystandard)

From Intern Vashti:

New bill proposed in Nigeria outlawing same sex marriages [defined as gay people living together] would imprison “gay people who live together, AND anyone who ‘aids and abets’ them” Nigerian Gay Activists Speak Out (@bbc)

Iowa takes steps to make marriage laws gender neutral (@the advocate)

Obama establishes the Council on Women and Girls (@politico)

The Periodic Table of Typefaces! [Designed by SquidSpot, via Logobr]
A clever chart of the Top 100 typefaces of the world with the typedesigner’s name, year designed and family and/or class. I would’ve loved to have this during my days as a studious pupil in fashion school. Totally brill.

SXSW Day Party with Craftster.org [@craftster.org]
Live bands, alcoholic beverages and free crafting tutorials! There’ll even be demos of the new Yudu, a personal silk-screening system that looks flippin’ awesome. I am so jealous if you go to this.

New P!nk Video! [@youtube]
My staff picks will normally be better than this, but the ladies love P!nk, so how could I disappoint? This is her new video for “Please Don’t Leave Me,” featuring a Misery-esque plotline where she beats up her boyfriend, played by Eric Lively, whom you might remember as Mark on season 2 of the L Word. Jenny would be proud of the smackdown he gets here. Directed by Dave Meyers.

  1. Ooh, I totally saw the periodic table of typefaces TWICE yesterday. Once via Smashing Magazine and again while I was stumblin’. Loves it.

I feel like I’m becoming the source for the gay news links.

    Lalala.

    • Yay! Thanks! We fully endorse & support your obsession. We’re kinda obsessed with it too.

  2. good! and i support you suppporting it…the one that is probably not supporting all this obsession is my boss -oh, well….
btw, i just discovered the interrogation(therapy) tapes, at sho.com, and I can’t believe it! these are worse than the finale itself. i openly demand that you write recaps for them, cause I can’t deal myself alone…i just saw Tina’s interrogation tape and I want to drink a full bottle of Lysol, break something beautiful, stumble on pillows, break both my knees, etc.
