“To L and Back” Gen Q Podcast Episode 103

Everyone is getting messy in gay LA, but are they messy enough?? We continue our “To L and Back” Gen Q recaps this week as Micah peruses Grindr, Finley confronts her religious past, and Dani and Sophie look at wedding venues. Meanwhile Bette debate preps, Shane has sex with the less interesting of her new business partners, and Alice talks to… MEGAN RAPINOE??

We’re talking trans actors playing cis characters. We’re talking class differences in queer relationships. We’re talking AGAIN about how threesomes would SERIOUSLY improve all of these love triangles! It’s not 2009 anymore, people! This is Generation Q!

  1. Thank you Drew for putting the time stamp in for the sex scene in Senses8, I feel like a perv, but geez that scene. I have to go fan myself after watching it.

Also I only watched the scenes of this coupling when I first watched Sense’s 8, ha very lonely lesbian of me.

It was so fucking cool to see Nomi and Amanita’s relationship seem very healthy ( I haven’t watched it all yet) as far as I’m aware the first representation of a relationship with a trans lesbian( trans actress) with a cis gendered woman be treated normally . The storyline of Nomi at pride broke my heart but I thought it was needed to show how far we still have to come.

I think threesomes would cure a lot of problems/ maybe Shane and Bette being Poly would help a lot.

This will sound corny as fuck and like I’m sucking up, but I honestly want to shout out Autostraddle for educating me on trans issues and opening my eyes to a lot. I haven’t really had anyone directly in my circle that I’ve been aware of, or anyone to have these conversations with and learn.

Drew and other women thank you for being so open. I liked Drew’s take on the representation of trans actors and characters on the podcast. It may be different if there was representation on the show of openly trans actors playing Cis roles and trans roles? I think this i starting to happen but not all on the same show yet?

There’s Herstory and Senses8 which I love, but it would be cool to see more. ( I know Better of chocolate is out there too)

Im pretty basic and white, so I like seeing, hearing and learning from people of all different ability, gender, race and sexuality. I think having more representation makes for better, more authentic stories. It’s far more interesting for me as a viewer and personally my attraction is within all.

As I get older I’m becoming more open to attraction and people, its like the opposite of a fox news viewer.
