The Best Cyber Monday 2014 Deals Ever

It’s Cyber Monday, when retailers go for the agoraphobic dollar and we relish the opportunity to shop in our underpants. Cyber Monday Deals for the whole chosen family! In this post we’ll give you the scoop on retailers offering big discounts and also on ten things that you could buy if you wanted to but no pressure.

We have affiliate accounts with all the merchants in this post, meaning that we get a small commission (usually around 5%, but often as low as .08% and sometimes as high as 20%) for referring you to their site. We think that’s pretty great, actually. You can find all our affiliate merchants here.

  1. I have a J.A. Henckels chef’s knife and I love it so much, one vote here for J.A. Henckels knife set

    • that’s reassuring, I just went and bought the set and was like “I bought you knives, gf! You said you wanted knives! I win at Christmas!” and she was like,”I don’t remember that?” but I am hoping it will come and she will be like “Look at the pretty, buy your mom that teapot she was talking about, this is for me.”

      We’ll see I guess.

    • I didn’t know about that. I did hear something on NPR a while back about how they are supposed to be giving shoes to kids because you can’t go to school if you don’t have shoes. But, they distribute the shoes almost exclusively in Christian schools to kids who already have shoes or they wouldn’t be in the school to get the shoes in the first place. So not only are you screwed if you’re not Christian or if you’re a local shoemaker being undermined by this, you’re also screwed if you actually need some shoes to go to school to begin with. The whole thing makes no sense.

That is the link to the story on Toms partnering up with Focus on the (heterosexual) Family.

Toms gives shoes to lots of non-christian schools too- I’ve worked in a few low income areas where Toms shoes are delivered by the subaru-load. HOWEVER, they are not the cute, galaxy printed or sparkly toms for which people pay $42.37 at Nordstrom Rack. But they do give shoes to kiddos who would normally not have the money for another pair.

  2. I actually am friends with the Panda Model. Her name is Hannah and she works at ThinkGeek in HR. She’s super nice, has an adorable tiny dog, and is straight. But she was one of the first people I didn’t know well that I told I was trans, and she was super supportive and helpful all the way through. :)
