  1. Isn’t it sad that other planet’s moons have names but ours is just “Moon”? Our moon shouldn’t be anonymous, she deserves a name too!

    • “In the fourth century BCE, they called Jupiter ‘Zeus-Star,’ Saturn ‘Chronos-Star,’ Venus ‘Aphrodite-Star,’ Mercury ‘Hermes-Star,’ and Mars ‘Ares-Star.’ The moon was given the name ‘Selene’ in Greek. It’s just a generic name for something that shines, as is the Latin ‘Luna.’ The word moon is Proto-Germanic in origin, deriving from a similar-sounding word that came into use a few thousand years ago in Northern Europe.”

  2. True story when I was a kid I used to call it “ma copine la lune” (aka the moon my gal pal). My parents tell me I was obsessed with it and got excited whenever I spotted it in the sky.

    The Moon in French is feminine. Of course it is ! I was so disappointed when I was learning German and found out they consider it a masculine (Der Mond). Poor Germans, they don’t know the joy of having a female moon !

    • If you ever have a band or become a singer-songwriter, Chloe, I think ‘Ma copine la lune (The Moon My Galpal)’ is totally the name of your first album.
