Sunday Funday is Sorry to This Man

Happy Sunday! I love you! What have you learned this week?

I learned a lot about being a good friend this week. I crowdsourced my Twitter followers because like, what is living in the future as an adult if not realizing you don’t have basic socialization skills like making friends? According to the folks who answered, it’s a lot of showing up, a lot of saying “I want to be your friend”, consistency, vulnerability. Friendship also needs a base of compassion and kindness. You aren’t friends if all you’re doing is being vulnerable/having hard convos, one of you is probably a therapist.

I also learned that I’m not a literary scholar and that I have a very, very, weak background in theory. But honestly, who cares. I’d rather be a better friend.

+ Leah Johnson wrote a book and the main character is a queer girl and it’s a happy story!

+ Okay this is old, but just to spur your memory: The Craft is coming back. And there is a cast!

+ Girls and gays, Celine is BACK!

Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness comes out.

+ What’s it mean when dictionaries enter the gender binary discourse?

+ Keke Palmer is a true treasure.

+ A new Showtime series, “Work in Progress” will screen at an LGBTQ film festival in Chicago

+ Young M.A doesn’t want to use labels anymore unless you’re calling her the rap GOAT.

+ Apparently…Kate Moennig…didn’t know she was a lesbian…until she did The L Word?!?!

+ Here’s some queer shit to watch

+ Don’t you wanna cry over puppies who get to live beautiful fulfilling lives even after they had difficult beginnings??

I hope you are present this week. I hope you take deep, deep, breaths when you feel overwhelmed. I hope you have moments where you can notice and remember that you live in a body and you can allow that to bring you joy. I hope you feel loved, even if it’s only by me. I hope you get to share something with someone that’s taking up a lot of brain space and are met with empathy and kindness. I hope you laugh each day as much as you laughed as a kid. I hope you smile every day. You’re doing great. Everything’s gonna be okay.

  1. I hope you feel the joy you bring to others threefold, Al(aina).

Going to start this Sunday with a cup of tea, deep breaths and the thought of kindness 😌

  2. Ok way to make me cry with that last paragraph! I hope you feel loved too, if only by every single one of us. <3

That lie detector video is amazing, I don't think I breathed the whole time. How does a person have that much chill?? I'm fairly sure mine would zigzag all over the place even if I was telling the truth because I get so flustered even at the thought that someone will think I’m doing something wrong.
