Hello, sugared ginger crystals! I’m here, queer, stressed, and a mess. Just wanted to let you know that having it all is impossible and literally everyone you know is probably slightly a mess and it’s OK. If someone tells you they have it all together all the time, they’re probably a liar and if they’re really not a liar, they’re definitely super boring. Let’s all be garish and beautiful messes together!
Here’s something fun! My upcoming YA book, Girls Resist!: A Guide to Activism, Leadership, and Starting a Revolution has a final cover design and it’s pretty rad!
I made an author page on Facebook last week, which is very weird to me. I mean, I write, but, like, I don’t know, it’s pretty strange to call myself an “author” officially. So that’s cool. I even created a sign-up for a yet-to-exist personal newsletter. So far my only sign-up is my mom, but everyone has to start somewhere! Maybe I should send my mom an obnoxiously personalized newsletter. What do you think?

Congratulations on your finalized cover, KaeLyn! It looks awesome! ?
Thanks! <3
KaeLyn Your book cover looks amazing! You should be proud!
Also now you’ve had a child and wrote a book. Have you planted a tree yet?
Working on it, Carmen!
It’s Colombia, not Columbia. The link text is correct but the preview on the main page has it wrong.
Also the Advocate article has inaccurate information but whatever.
The whole Colombia/ Columbia thing irks me so much
Thanks for the correction!
Thank you for the PSA about perfection and having it all together Kaelyn! I needed that ? Also, CONGRATS ON YOUR BOOK WHAT!!!
Haha. I feel like I hijacked the Sunday Funday by sharing the book cover but OH WELL.
I need to tell myself that PSA at least once a day. We’re all struggling together!
The book news is exciting congratulations!
WELL DONE!!!
Someone closer, buy that author some champagne!!!
I’m so excited about the existence of your book!!! And I hear you on not being able to have it all.I’m currently reading Grit about passion and perseverance. There is a part about culling some projects to focus on larger goals that is definitely making me think.
Thank you! I try to live by the philosophy of doing a few things well instead of a million things haphazardly, but uh…I don’t always succeed.
Having a kid sure makes it more challenging, doesn’t it? Because it used to just be my own health I was neglecting if I overcommitted. Now it affects someone else who really depends on me. So it’s become both easier to put things down and harder to juggle so many things!
Thanks!
