You guys, it’s Record Store Day! I just watched Empire Records like last week and found myself overwhelmed with emotions about record stores, the long-lost thrill of searching through the racks for brand new albums, connecting with musicians and cherishing particularly rare finds, imports, b-sides. The ancient custom of actually paying for music has mostly slipped away from us, but once a year artists come together to celebrate independent record stores with special performances, signings and limited edition, reissued or brand new albums designed just for this most glorious of holidays. Somewhere in your near vicinity, a mom’n’pop shop is stocking their shelves with incredible new tunes, and we want to know what you pick up!
If you and your friends are out record shopping today, please use the hashtag #AutoRSD15 to show us what you scored.
Left to my own devices and with access to an unlimited amount of money, here are the Record Store Day exclusive and special releases I’d pick up:

alright, you caught me, i’d buy that one for one of the other weirdos on staff, but i’d still buy it.
The cover image drew me in. I watched Empire Records about 1 million times my senior year of HS. I still probably can quote most of it.
I didn’t but anything but I saw the DJ set from. Mr thing at rough trade. Rad.

Stef, as someone whose entire adolescence was deeply affected by Empire Records, I appreciate your use of Warren in your feature image. <3
Thank you for alerting me to this new Garbage track. I’ve been missing my awesome lady musicians of the 90s, including Shirley Manson. More, please!
Courtney Barnett, Courtney Barnett, Courtney Barnett!
I love her so much! I hope its not too late in this thread to ask everyone to listen to her and she’s touring the US right now, friends!
