Stef is covering SXSW for Autostraddle! Read her first post here! And read be yr own queero‘s post on queer bands at SXSW. If you want to take a trip down memory lane to last year’s SXSW festivities, you should watch Team Autostraddle’s Uh Huh … Her?, the best fan-doc of all time and the winner of the 2008 Uh Huh Her @SXSW Contest, the most competitive film festival in the entire universe.
Also you should read Green’s first post if you haven’t already. She is going to give us the tools we need for the DIY revolution and to make pretty things!
Also related: check out the Be Yr Own Hero Fest — a Radical DIY Festival in Wilmington, NC. — sponsored by our friends at Be Yr Own Queero, who are also hosting a contest where you can win 410BC t-shirts as well as hot Autostraddle Swag like buttons and boy-briefs!
That’s probs enough reading already for today, yeah? Carly’s first tech post is on deck too! I wrote you a love-letter last night and … hm. I haven’t actually thought about what I’m gonna write about, ha. I guess a little bit of everything, probs books a lot, and yelling at Ilene Chaiken. I need to think of topics for future episodes of Lezberado not related to The L Word if I want to keep that job. Ideas?
From Riese:
- The nerve date with jen & lexi – sexy photoset of two cute actually gay girls texting each other. It’s sort of ridiculously captivating. NSFW. (@nerve)
- The smithsonian photo gallery of women in science is online (@bitch magazine)
- “Once averse to the boob tube, author T Cooper is now in love with TV — specifically with the hair-extended, acrylic-nailed sort, a la Rock of Love.”: Too Girly to Be Girls? (@the advocate)
- O for Oprah Magazine has discovered “late-in-life lesbians” (@jezebel)
- On a more serious note … “How can it be possible for a healthy 45 year-old woman to take a spill on a “bunny hill” and end up brain dead within the day?” Neurologist Dexter Sun explains. (@huffpo)

I’m a big Gossip Girl fan, so I was very excited when Carly sent me to this fabulous video of Blake Lively and Leighton Meester sharing an ice cream cone during a recent Rolling Stone photoshoot with photographer Terry Richardson. I also stumbled across this. I’m glad to hear S and B are playing nice. xoxo.

I know Stef is our resident music guru, but I had to post this. Fagget Fairys is a Danish lesbian duo that’s been getting a lot of traction on the music blogs lately. Ena and DJ Carla Cammilla are engaged [TO EACH OTHER, YOU GUYSSS] and are making some really amazing electro music [if by “amazing” you mean “ridiculous slash awesome”]. See what I mean in the video for their song “Feed the Horse.” Stream their songs on their Myspace or download the track here (@bigstereo). I’m praying for some US tour dates!

I’m amped about today’s release of Evermore’s third album, ‘The Truth of the World: Welcome to the Show’. Evermore are a New Zealand indie/alt rock band, consisting of three brothers who are close to my heart. I recommend checking out the video clip for ‘Hey Boys and Girls’ here. The website design alone is worth a look.
from Alex:
Presenting: Mouth Off – The Creative Review’s iPhone App of the Day. I would like to break this out in the middle of an argument with someone.
if anyone missed the obama interview on leno last night:

I feel like we need a “this week in homoerotic photography” segment with things like Blair & Serena.
Yes, that is the only intelligent thing I have to say today.
The Oprah link isn’t working!
Many of the links aren’t working for me! Need a password for Nerve, etc.
Sorry about that — okay I fixed the Oprah link — are there other links that aren’t working? (etc?)
Sorry about the nerve thing, it clicks right through to me and I didn’t realize that’s ’cause i have an account. my un is yrstar2434 and the pw is autowin if you want to see it. in the future i’ll keep that in mind and not link to them. hm, maybe i’ll get kicked off for giving out my information. well, there’s only one way to find out i suppose!
That Smithsonian collection of Women in Science photos is awesome. It’s odd seeing woman do experiments in long dresses or formal-wear. I’d be worrying about spilling chemicals on myself or setting my flowing skirt on fire.
The inclusion of science on autowin makes me very happy. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough time to actually read the article right now, as I have to go to the lab and do some science…
