Playlist: Best Songs Never Performed at P3

Piper Halliwell of the Halliwell sisters a.k.a. The Charmed Ones was one badass witch. But she doesn’t get the credit she deserves for also being a badass business owner. On Charmed, Piper owns the San Francisco hot spot P3 which, according to my own headcanon, was without a doubt a lesbian nightclub. Through the years, P3 had its ups and downs, but it became a very chill place for the sisters to escape to after their long and hard days of slaying demons and turning into mermaids and other lil witchy things.

Despite Piper’s best efforts, P3 occasionally saw its share of demonic activity, but it mostly was a place for cathartic booty shaking and performances from some big name artists, like Michelle Branch, Paula Cole, Barenaked Ladies, Pat Benatar, The Flaming Lips, Liz Phair, and The Cranberries. If you were a popular band in the late 90s/early 2000s but you never appeared on Charmed, then did you even exist in the first place? But alas, several of the era’s greats were overlooked by whoever did the booking at P3 (I will assume it was Leo, because that makes the least sense, and everything about P3’s business plan made little-to-no sense). So here is a truly magical playlist of all the songs that were never performed at P3 but definitely should have been. Take a listen, close your eyes, and imagine Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, and Shannen Doherty — or Rose McGowan if you wanna be like that — bopping around in the horrible yet wonderful costume choices this show cursed them with.

  1. OMG this takes me back, I haven’t thought about Charmed in so long.

I used to be in a group of three friends in school when I was 13, we were obsessed with Buffy and Charmed and started pretending we were witches. We bought a book and decorated it and put spells into it (I was super into calligraphy, so we tried to make it look like the book of shadows). Then we would go to the attic of one of their homes and put candles and herbs and the book in the middle and do spells.

    OMG I MISS THOSE DAYS.

-also I feel like Aria’s wardrobe in PLL was a direct inspiration from Charmed, Y/Y ?

  2. YAAAAAASSSS

I am just rewatching Charmed, because what else does one do when they are randomly in a long distance relationship yet again, and it has made me remember when I first fell in love with music from television shows and also those characters.

  3. Charmed is one of the few shows that I consistently rewatch… It’s not that it gets better, but I just have so so much love. Also, YES to the lesbian nightclub headcanon <3

  4. How nerdy and out of touch is it that I only know the Maneater song because of a Mileena fanvid tribute?

(FYI Mileena is a Mortal Kombat character and for years one of her signature finishing moves was the “Maneater” where she unhinged her toothy Glasgow grin of mouth and ate her opponent whole.)
