How do you feel about Chimes? The ginger chews — specifically the mango ones. Do you find that there’s always one end of the chew that’s trapped in the wrapper? Do they do this on purpose? What’s the deal.

well, i have been trying to convince myself i don’t actually need to buy more clothes from modcloth and this has sealed the deal. what a fckn bummer.
I stopped shopping with them because they fucked up my orders 3 times and I had to pay the return shipping from Canada, but I’ve been grumpy every time I see some cute thing they’re selling in an ad. Now at least I have extra justification for my one-woman boycott. Hmph.
does mey know about the whales
was gonna let you tell her.
i can’t believe you didn’t post this in the ocean channel, i feel like you don’t take my dedication to marine life seriously
I literally scrolled straight down to write “don’t tell Met about the whales” haha!
That was meant to say Mey but apparently autocorrect had other ideas
Okay but are the dolphins getting organized in large numbers as well?
Because that’s when it’s time to panic, there’s not enough life boats on this thing ya feel me.
So long and thanks for all the fish?
When the dolphins start gathering wet are indeed in trouble
Dolphins are just gay sharks so we will be fine. Straight people not so much…
The article did not say, BUT…
“And hey, humpbacks have been known to swim around and interact with bottlenose dolphins, so maybe there’s some big information exchange going on in the seas that we’re unaware of.”
!!!!!

Please update story about Iranian asylum seeker – correction made in article, he does not identify as lesbian, but AFAB. Translation error.
Thank you :)
Thank you Snaelle!
Thank you, really enjoyed the women and cars article a lot. Maybe we can have an Autostraddle International Cruise the Blvd(be it on bikes, motorcycle, or automobile) day or something?
GOD DAMMIT MODCLOTH.
First Thinx, now Modcloth. Wait — first, America, then Thinx, now ModCloth have been taken over by women-hating hypocrites.
Time to take the sewing class my introversion keeps avoiding.
Re: Small LGBTQ friendly towns in conservative America: I have never, ever felt so accepted and affirmed and supported and loved and celebrated and proud as a lesbian than when my girlfriend and I spent Valentine’s Day weekend in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. That place LOVES the gays and they will tell anyone who will listen, and they follow through with lots of legislation affirming that. It’s absolutely beautiful. We stayed at a lesbian-owned lodge, ate at lesbian and gay-owned restaurants and coffee shops that were slammed with all sorts of people, and it was just amazing.
And it’s in the middle of nowhere, Arkansas, right down the road from Conservative Hell of all Conservative Hells Branson, Missouri.
This sounds amazing! I have been wanting to go on a weekend trip to Arkansas. Would you mind sharing the names of places you went to and stayed? It sounds fantastic! Thanks!
I am SO GLAD to hear that you found Eureka Springs to be super accepting. I’m going there this fall with my Person, and was a bit nervous about it. But omg y’all, we are staying in a TREEHOUSE. A treehouse with wi-fi and a jacuzzi! I am so psyched.
I’m jealous! It’s a great, funky town. An odd mix of bikers, queers/artists and religious folks who come for the passion play (and the overlap of the 3). I miss the Ozarks.
I definitely found it very gay-friendly. They had a city gay marriage registry well before gay marriage was even legal.
Also A TREE HOUSE!!!!
I’ve been to Eureka Springs a few times with as a kid with my family — my parents actually honeymooned there) — but I’ve never been there with a lady-friend, so I wasn’t sure if the reception would be chillier. Now I’m even more excited to go!
And I am so pumped about the treehouse. You can also stay in a hobbit cave or an enchanted grotto, and yes, they ALL have jacuzzis. (My Person and I have taken to calling it Jacuzzi Springs.)
Just watched “Gender Troubles” and loved it, very insightful and offering thought-provoking for me! Thank you for sharing!
I, for one, welcome our Humpback Whale overlords.
‘Cause I ain’t no humpback girl
I ain’t no humpback girl
Few times I’ve been around that track
So it’s not just gonna happen like that
Comment award, right here ^
Dang, I need to do laundry. I have no towels.
Wait, did anyone think to ask Ellen. I hear she speaks whale.
Comment award?
Agreed
I fully believe that whales are smarter than us and we will one day discover some deep-ocean hidden technology they’ve developed or something. The first thing that occurred to me when I read that article was how human society regularly undergoes major shifts (ex. from hunter-gatherer to agricultural) as new technology arises, and how those shifts would seem surprising and baffling to any hypothetical outsiders who had assumed that our habits were as predictable as other animal species.
“They [the endowments] were created in 1965 when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed legislation declaring that any “advanced civilization” must fully value the arts, the humanities, and cultural activity.” So, I guess we all know where you’re going with this kind of shit… America, home of the Dark Ages.

I don’t think I’m ready to boycott Modcloth. I love the inclusive little style community and I haven’t seen anything else quite like it.
