  1. “Understand this, women of means will still have access to abortions,” Warren said. “Who won’t will be poor women. It will be working women and women who can’t afford to take off three days from work, and very young women. It will be women who have been raped and women who have been molested by someone in their own family. WE DO NOT PASS LAWS THAT TAKE AWAY THAT FREEDOM FROM THE WOMEN WHO ARE MOST VULNERABLE.”

Strangely enough this made me think of “mansplaning”, because women don’t need men to explained the obvious, but clearly men DO NEED IT.

PD: as far as I can tell Biden is the baby boomers wet dream, no?

    • That’s what it’s like in my country, where abortion is only legal in cases of rape, incest and if the life of the mother is in danger. But guess what? Rich women still get access to abortions in clandestine clinics, poor women die because of back alley abortions…

      • Same happens in Argentina, but one thing I know for sure is that if abortion is ever legalized in my country you will never find an amendment that doesn’t allow you to use public funds or have an abotion on a public hospital.

  2. Sorry, I forgot that I had a very important question, is there any bill presented on any of the chambers of Congress about legalizing abortion by law?

    • Sorry for the delayed response, @freakazoid1980, but I was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday.

But, yes, there have been bills in the past but none have made it through both chambers. Warren, Gillibrand, Booker and Hickenlooper have called for the right to choose to be enshrined in federal law…but it’d take a majority in the House and, probably, a supermajority in the Senate to accomplish that feat.

      • @pecola glad to see that you’re feeling better and yeah I had the slight suspicion that this was the case about legislation. And I guess some people in the community probably are really scared about the possibilty of the same shit happening with equal marriage. That SCOTUS scares the shit out of me.

By the way, for the 8th year on a roll the bill for legalizing abortion was introduced on Argentina’s Congress. Last year was the only time in history that the bill passed Congress (Diputados) but it went down in the Senate (38 to 31).

    • That was an oversight on my part, @needlesandpin. I had a link to the story from Think Progress for Monday’s Also.Also.Also and just neglected to include it. Thanks for linking to that Pacific Standard piece which I does a good job at highlighting the issue…I’ll include it in the next link roundup.

  3. 1 – I’m not turning off my ad blocker for WaPo, but in case it’s not clear there, the “straight pride” event is being organized by white nationalists, and it’s important we say so. https://thinkprogress.org/resist-marxism-front-for-far-right-organizing-9bd959325ae1/

2 – Until all folx of color in prison on pot charges are free, and all folx of color whose lives have been impacted be being imprisoned on pot charges have been paid reparations and assured voting and employment rights, AND folx of color stop being harassed/charged for pot use/possession (which still happens in pot-legal states), I am not interested in hearing about the woes of white cannabis rainbow capitalism. Or, frankly, white women becoming famous for smoking pot on Insta.

3 – that Vox article on the border is hugely problematic and I’m disappointed it’s linked here.

  4. That Gatorade commercial has my eyes a leakin’.

Also, I don’t want to be a party pooper, and do really, really want to be excited about Wonder Woman because duh, but last I checked Gal Gadot still supports Palestinian genocide, right? I can’t enjoy WW at all while it’s her. Doesn’t feel right.
