A+ Inbox LIVE! Podcast #1: Get Kicked Out of Chorus

Well golly gosh it’s a whole new podcast situation just for you! We’re calling it A+ Inbox LIVE! and it’s a short, casual little show that’s all about you but also us.

Here’s the deal with A+ Inbox LIVE!: I snagged three questions/comments that you weirdos left for us in the Priority Inbox, then Riese, Rachel, Heather, Yvonne and I got on Skype to talk about them. It was fun and we learned a lot about ourselves and the world! Eh, really just about ourselves, I guess. The best part of A+ Inbox LIVE! is that we’re gonna do it again in a few days! And then again, and again. We’ll bring on special guests. We’ll ask Stef to make more musics for us (she put this intro tune together in a single brief afternoon and it’s probably the greatest thing ever). And um, we’ll also bring on YOU! How will we do that? VOICEMAIL. That’s right, not only do you get a Priority Inbox with your A+ membership, now you’ll also get a Priority Voicemail, where you can leave short messages for us that might make it onto this very show. Whoaaaa the world is bright and beautiful and we can’t wait to hear your weirdo messages.

You might have noticed the absence of our A+ Podcast since November. That’s because we’re working on a broader podcasting program at Autostraddle that’s top secret at the moment, but when everything’s in place, you’ll of course be the first AS readers to know. Exciting!

  13. I enjoyed this podcast the most of all the podcasts.

    I think about disappeared commenters a lot! I am sad that my wifeperson does not comment here. I don’t think I can dump her over it, because then she’d get deported. Maybe it’s possible to create a post-nup so she has to post here if I’m incapacitated?

    Anyway, I am very much looking forward to hearing more of these! Also, this is possibly the first time in my life I’m considering voluntarily leaving someone a voicemail?

    But at the same time there’s a solid chance I will cry at A-camp because I don’t really have gay women friends? Who I see in person? That’s never been a Thing

    All of my HS friends have stayed straight thus far

    Also Also I didn’t finish the Harry Potter series until I was an adult because when book five came out it started with this crazy long dream sequence?? And I thought

    “golly, I bet Voldemort is back, and Harry knows but at first no one believes, and then they do and then he sort of saves the day but also it’s mostly Hermione”

    So as a grown up I finished it, and book seven was a bit boring while they were just sort of camping but I listened to it on audio book and it was p great, but not life changing

    My sister is obsessed though. Like Heather levels. And so is my best friend. We couldn’t decided my house so we decided I’d be a squib and recently I asked her if she remembered that and she said

    “I think about this more than you’d expect actually. Both you and Harry Potter are never far from my mind”

  17. This is my favorite thing ever!!! I love all of you so much! Also, definitely every single time i go out in public i think about how i hope someone lets you guys know if i die.

    Also, i totally cried when heather cried! heather i love you!!!

    And Stef! i love the intro music!

    • Pretty much the only direction I gave Stef for the intro music was “something that sounds shockingly similar to the mister rogers opening song, or what you might expect to hear in the background of a bar scene in a dumb movie, or maybe if those two sounds had a baby” and she created a masterpiece. #blessed

  18. I introduced my girlfriend to Autostraddle, and she loves it! We definitely talk about it in person. She hasn’t created a profile, yet, so I’ll have to get on that. I did buy her the scissoring tote bag and scissoring boxer briefs for Valentine’s Day and she loves them.
    Also, I love Harry Potter and I love that approximately 1/3 of Heather’s references are Harry Potter ones. My girlfriend is also a huge Harry Potter fan, so she gets it.

  20. First of all, I loved this. Y’all are cute.

    Second, I have also thought about my internet presence (or lack thereof) post-death a lot! I used to be pretty active on Tumblr, but then I just stopped using it because I moved to a place where I couldn’t get fast internet anymore and I was also just tired of trying to avoid TV spoilers. But anyway, I sometimes wonder if anyone ever wonders about me. It’s probably just the egomaniac in all of us. Like, I just want to be really important to strangers. Is that so much to ask?

    But also, I kind of wish my computer and my hard drives and all of my internet accounts would just self destruct as soon as I die. I’m so paranoid about people seeing the things I get up to on my computer. And it’s not like I’m into some crazy stuff I need to hide, but just, I don’t want people to know things about me unless I decide to tell them.

  21. This was hilarious. I listened to it twice in a row because my phone was set on repeat and I didn’t stop it when it started over.
    I can’t think of any person I would cry over meeting but I think if I were to meet a hero or whatever, I’d probably stare at the ground and say what I want to say so quietly that nobody would hear it or even necessarily catch my lips moving. So basically I would think what I meant to say.

  25. this brought me so much joy and light on such a weird anxious crummy day! thank you! it is really lovely to be reminded in sound that y’all are real people and real friends, it’s friendly and warm and fuzzy and nice.

    related to weird crummy anxious day, all of y’all staff folks are writers (and probably plenty of commenters are too) : do you ever get writing anxiety or revision anxiety? i’m working on a piece for a publication at my college and i guess i’ve never had editorial/revision notes not from a teacher and it’s the stressiest thing even though the editors are my friends and coworkers! and now the deadline is coming up and everything is terrible. any advice?

    sorry i made this open thread type/advice type comment here but the podcast made me feel super safe and share-y (and also the bowl i smoked during it…)
