20 Black Friday Gift Deals You Can Get Without Getting Off Your Ass

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, when everyone buys things for each other to support the capitalist patriarchal systems of oppression which enslave us to arbitrarily corrupt higher powers who carry out wide-reaching cultural manipulation via various media formats which have conspired to convince us that love is a thing that can be bought and sold. I have to say that I agree with them. For example, when I get a present I love, I love the person who got it for me a lot more. That’s why Christmaskuwannaka exists, it recharges the battery of love you have for your significant other, family, or orphan clan.

Anyhow it’s Black Friday today. It’s like Fat Tuesday, only with more exercise and it’s a big deal. That’s when you throw your children into the car at 4am and put them in line at Toys ‘R Us to get their own damn presents for 68% off. It’s everything I hate about America. Thought Catalog has a thoughtful piece entitled Five Ways to Get Killed on Black Friday:

In truth, Black Friday is a dry run for the end of days. And as far as dry runs go, the masses fail miserably–and on a grander scale–each year. Shoppers are trampled, injured, bloodied, and even killed. The scenes that play out in Target, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy stores across the country are of course ugly, and fairly revolting. But imagine how different these scenarios would be if instead of $1 DVDs, actual human survival was at stake? In short, it would be a blood bath.

Luckily, the internet was invented. So, we’ll be putting out our annual Holiday Gift Guide for Dorks and Queers (here’s last year’s!) soon enough, but if you’re looking to JUMP START then we feel obligated by some higher “servicey” journalistic power to alert you about significant “deals” you might be interested to know about, which coincidentally go through our amazon affiliate account, enabling us to get 4 pennies for every $4,000 you spend! It adds up. Seriously. So you’re supporting us, and also maybe possibly “the man.”

Oh quick timeout:

The Autostraddle Calendar 2011 (1) represents a new generation of visionaries in their underpants. F*ck traditional pin-up girls and airbrushed centerfolds in smarmy lad rags, we want real lesbians in their boyshorts and/or negligees. Shot by famous celebrity and fashion photographer Robin Roemer and featuring a diverse group of smart, sexy queer girls (including two real-live celesbians) photographed in the Le Cadeau By Robin style.

For real, if you’re a discerning shopper with extra time, we encourage you to support your local independently-owned businesses this holiday season which we’ll talk more about in our Holiday Gift Guide.

      • You wouldn’t believe the amount of times I’ve written letters saying’I have to finish this because my pen is dying’ and the first thing the reader thinks is ‘your penis, what?’

  1. I totes understand how important it is that Absolutely Fabulous: Absolutely Everything is 50 percent off, except I already own it. Seriously, people, if you haven’t already previously justified that spending over $100 for it was WELL worth it, then go buy this now!!!

    • FUCK YES! but seriously, these pens are the best EVAR. i would buy them, but thats a “me” present, and right now i have to think about “others” presents. (sadface)

  2. Ok, whilst I have never. I repeat NEVER commented on anything like this in my life I feel i must break this cycle for 3 reasons.

    1) EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Ab Fab Box Set!!
    2) I’ve never met anyone across the pond who even knows what it is really.
    3) who puts 50% off?? I didn’t read the $69 dollars.. nearly had a heart attack. (see i read $12)
So whilst I think this is the best thing in the world, even though it is snowing incessantly which isn’t necessarily good as i live on a big hill and have go out out early, and even though for by some miracle my roof hasn’t yet fallen in, i cant afford it.

  3. Next time there is a woman in my bed, imma yell “WOMAN MAKE ME A COFFEE….ESPRESSO!”

But sometimes I don’t have to, ans the girl with the pink hair who lives 3 buildings over has a crush on me and sometimes brings me a Latte when she knows i’m stressed.
and then i wonder how she knows i’m stressed.

    SHIT GUYS.
YOUR ESPRESSO JUST MADE ME REALIZE I HAVE A STALKER.

  4. I never yell “Woman make me some coffee!” which is probably one of the reasons my girlfriend and I have been together SO long. Well, that and the fact that she makes the coffee without me having to ask.

    • I dont yell that either… but I do yell “woman make me a sandwich!” and the only woman that I have in my life is my mom… This explains many things!

      • Does your mom a)laugh at this b)happily make you a sandwich c)yell back, “Why don’t you pay some fucking rent?!” d)cry and mumble “Where did I go wrong?” while making you a sandwich or e)ignore you

I’m taking notes for future reference.

  5. Absolutely Fabulous! OMG I love that show so much!! Except I probably won’t be buying it because I recently rented the entire series through Netflix and watched the whole thing in the span of about a month.

Thanks for the headphone suggestions I need a pair that doesn’t squish my ears into my head quite so painfully. I just found something for my Christmas list that isn’t a book.

  6. I just needed a couple of bucks to get Free Super Saver Shipping on an order from Amazon so I’m hoping “Unbearable Lightness” turns out to be a worthy investment.

  7. If any of you nerds have been considering getting genetic testing, 23andme have brought their prices down from $499 to $99 until the 29th. It’ll actually be $159 after you pay for their required monthly subscription, though.
