RICKY MARTIN:
Oprah‘s week of homoawesome continues with Ricky Martin‘s first interview since coming out last March. In his memoir, Me, Ricky writes of falling in love with a Los Angeles radio DJ in 1993. He says he offered to end his music career and perhaps let the world know he was gay but says that his partner was the one who convinced him that he should not cut his career short even if it meant ending the relationship. He tells Oprah that it was this rejection that pushed him even further in the closet because he didn’t want to be hurt like that again – and so he began dating women in the 90s.
“I’m sure I’m not the only gay man who felt attraction to women. I am not bisexual. I am a gay man. For many years I thought I was [bi].”
He also talks to Oprah about his infamous 2000 interview in which Barbara Walters confronted him about the gay rumors saying he felt like she was “beating me up” on the spot. Finally, although he did not have a partner at the time of writing his book, he tells Oprah that he now has someone special in his life and that forcing someone out of the closet is damaging to the individual’s spiritual journey.
In case you thought this week couldn’t get any gayer for Oprah, today’s episode features highlights from her Big Yosemite Camping Adventure with Gayle.

WOMEN OF SNL:
Saturday Night Live hosted a multi-generational reunion special featuring Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Nora Dunn, Kristin Wiig, Ana Gasteyer, Rachel Dratch, Cherie Oteri, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Laraine Newman. Check out the pretty amusing Real Housewives parody that opened the show:

SAMANTHA RONSON / XTINA:
Shut down.
OUT 100:
The 16th Annual Out 100 issue is upon us and the theme is “Celebration.” Chris Colfer, Lisa Chodolenko (director of The Kids Are All Right), Scissor Sisters, Michael Stipe, Christine Quinn and T.R. Knight made the list revealed so far.
I tuned into the back half of the Oprah/Gayle camping trip and was shocked when Gayle actually made a crack to Oprah about how lesbian rumors will get started when they head off to bed for the night. They both got a chuckle out of it and the audience laughed too. That’s three days in a row of gayness on the Oprah show.
Chris Colfer is just so ADORBS AHHHH. i want to take him home with me! please mommy please? i promise to take care of him and feed him and cuddle him pleeeeease.
this.
i have an insane obsession with chris colfer. i lose interest in glee episodes with a reduced chance of kurt solos.
ricky martin on oprah was the second thing my mother brought up on the phone yesterday.
I actually laughed out loud when my mom told me about this last night. And I think I may have offended her when I explained what was so funny.
But then we had a conversation about all the teen suicides which made me think there was hope for true acceptance after all.
Ricky Martin’s interview was THE most adorable hour of television. He looks & sounds like such a sweet guy & a wonderful father. I’m really happy for him!!
Also, I am LOVING the week of homoawesome on Oprah!! If it were like this every day, I think I would be in a perpetual good mood!
i love you ricky martin SO SO MUCH
The Ricky Martin interview, such beauty. I’m speechless.
I WANT THOSE RED PANTS.
that is all.
omg you are SO right those pants are awesome!
Martin came across likeable.
Nice picture of Colfer.
Don’t believe Ronson who is infamous for messing around and not wanting Lohan to know.
“She pulled her dogs weave!” haha! And I have one sex tapes. So funny!
I love that Oprah hosts all these coming out interviews. 1. I think she handles the them with compassion and respect and 2. Even though everyone’s coming out story is a little different, those terrible closeted feelings of confusion and self-loathing and dread seem to be relatively universal – the more people who hear what that’s like, the better, you know? I hope my slightly batty, super conservative aunt who loves Oprah was watching because, well, Thanksgiving is coming up and that’s basically like the second national Coming Out Day.
Also, Molly Shannon has great legs.
My mom called to tell me Portia was on Oprah, but she never mentioned Ricky!
Guys, I came out to my parents, unbeknownst to me, the same day as Ricky Martin. Now, I feel we are connected somehow through the rainbow colored homo-ether. #tangentialsharing
DOUBLE RAINBOW WHAT DOES THIS MEAN
so intense.
This may be the most appropriate use of double rainbow outside of commenting on an actual double rainbow. My ladygay hat is off to you.
I loved Ricky Martin in third grade when I still thought I was straight
I still love Ricky Martin!
