Is it just me, or has the passage of time lately moved faster than a couple of queers on a first date?
As 2022 comes to a close, I’ve been practicing one of my favorite year-end hobbies, which is pretending that I will emerge into a new year as a supremely different person: a person who states my needs, a person who prioritizes my tasks, a person who reads everything in my TBR pile. Organization! My body is ready!
In reality, I’ll be the same old person I always have been, but it’s fun to dream. And since I really do need a new planner for 2023, I can absolutely ride that organization wave into a new year with the tools that I need to succeed — and so can you! With contributions from the AS team and some personal favorites as well, this quiz will tell you what planner you might need for the coming year. Happy planning!
my only quibble here is that my answer to question 1 is clearly “all of the above”
also i’m a ride or die moleskin user – i want a totally blank layout with a full page / day (and that’s before the more complicated breakout to-do list on my phone no i don’t have a problem) – but these are some very pretty options ☺️
I got the Structured Day Planner App.
Which actually looks great for my spouse. I’m trying to use my phone less so I’m not sure it’s so great for me
oh no cleo! take it again!
I got the Slingshot Collective’s The Organizer this time – looks like it’s more my speed.
I’m losing it at the bookshelf picture with none of the covers or spines visible! Why!? What?? I’m both outraged and delighted.
hahaha yes it is d i v i s i v e
Howwwwwww.?…. Does one find any book?
Yeah, I do not get that at all. I’m kind of afraid to meet the ppl who like that…
SAME
At first I got This is Very Wrong feels but then I thought:
What if you’d read every title and didn’t need to locate specific books? You could let visitors play Russian Roulette with your personal collection! A magical surprise book to read for the night/visit, or a conversation starter based on their reaction to each random pull?
I got Slingshot Collective’s organizer. Their website has context about how University of California student groups and off-campus movements were prevented from working together after the mid-80s, which explains a lot and has ongoing impact to would-be movements around California.
“Somewhere early on, we collectively concluded that efficiency wasn’t the most important goal of the project. Mainstream western society always holds efficiency as its highest value, even where the pursuit of efficiency creates human misery or environmental destruction”– in their FAQ– sums up the complicated feelings I have about wanting a planner in the first place, which probably means this is a good fit for me.
As the true virgo that I am I obviously bought my planner in late October, but this is still content that speaks to me.
Huh! Did not expect the Slingshot Organizer but it looks cool. Thanks for introducing me to a new thing! (I am a knock-off filofax lady IRL – I love the click of binder rings, pockets for random scraps of paper I don’t want to lose and the infinitely re-arrangeable pages suit my ADHD.)
I am scheduling full days in bed this yr.
Hahaha I got the Structured Day Planner App and just looking at the website for it is making me nervous…that’s way too much organization for me! In reality I bullet journal because it allows me to (attempt to) compile my thoughts in one place (that isn’t my device) and be flexible both in what tasks I’m completing each day, and the general layout of my planner etc. I imagine that this app would be helpful if I freelanced/worked for myself though!
Would love if there was a way to view all the possible answers for the quizzes at the end, after you get your result – especially for something like this, I’m always curious what the other options were!
Yes! I would love to see all the options for these quizzes, especially when they are recommendations for books and things.
The choices were:
Passion Planner
Slingshot Collective: The Organizer
Hobonichi A6 Planner
The 2023 Astro Planner from Chani.com
The Structured Day Planner App
The Anti-Planner
The Sunsama Daily Planner App for Busy Professionals
The 2023 Zero-Waste Planner
I got the Zero waste planner which looks cute :) I do actually have a slingshot organizer for 2023 but I use it as a little diary instead where I can write a few sentences at the end of the day.
For my actual planner I’ve been thinking about the Passion Planner
I am very into planners so I took this just for fun haha, but I got Passion Planner which I have used in the past! This year I’m using Hemlock & Oak which is a similar format. It’s minimalist but elegant and I love it :)
I am so psyched about this post! I went into a frenzy last week trying to figure out if I should try out using a planner and then which one. I landed on Panda Planner, and got it on sale the next day, and I’ve been really excited to be using it.
I literally came extremely close to posting a question on AS: “What planners do y’all like to use?” because I think AS is the coolest, smartest, most self-caring group of ppl I could ask.
And look, here is the content I wished for! Thanks, AS! And Happy New Year, everyone!!!!
I couldn’t give an honest answer for #1, I need “Browse the list and appreciate that the books exist but know you will never read any of them” lol.
I already had my Slingshot before taking this, didn’t realize it was an option, and got Slingshot as my asnswer hell yeah!
Same here! It’s my first year using the Slingshot and I’m so excited about it!
me too!
Wow, this perfectly blends my love of quizzes and office supplies. Also, I got the Anti-planner so I feel SEEN.
i think you forgot warrior nun
Actual loling
Fantastic content!
On a related note, does anyone have suggestions for a 2023 wall calendar? I usually get the ACLU calendar but for some reason wasn’t able to get ahold of one for 2023. Ideally proceeds would benefit a charity organization or civil rights organization in a similar way. Open to all options!
My favorites are the Certain Days Political Prisoner calendar and Hilary Love Glass’s.
This was unexpectedly deep! Thanks for making me think about my relationship to time, work, and 2023 goals — it felt fitting for a new year’s quiz
Darcy can I just say this is genius and I’ve taken it at least 10 times to see all the possible planners I could get. Currently using Sunsuma lol
