Ellen Page didn’t “say Juno grew up to be a lesbian” as much as she just said yes to that leading question from the interviewer. Juno didn’t need to “grow up” and “become” anything. She can absolutely be queer just as she was portrayed in the movie. Bisexuality exists. We don’t need to fall back on this idea that every single time we see a visibly queer reading woman in a relationship with a man, they must be young and confused or just a closeted lesbian.
I know I’m late to this article and late to finally starting to watch One Day at a Time but I really like it and hope someone decides to make another season.
