Pop Culture Fix: Kristen Stewart’s Charlie’s Angels Are Here, Surely One Is Queer

+ Kristen Stewart’s new Charlie’s Angels, a thing I have refused to believe is real until someone provided photographic evidence, has made a strong case for its existence this week by releasing some stills. According to Entertainment Weekly, “[Charlie’s] expanded roster includes the crew at the center of Elizabeth Banks’ story: Sabina Wilson (Kristen Stewart), the hard-partying, highly skilled wild card; Jane Kano (Ella Balinska), the ex-MI6 muscle of the group; and Elena Houghlin (Aladdin’s Naomi Scott), the MIT-trained scientist who, Banks says, serves as ‘the heart of the movie.'” Also if Kristen Stewart isn’t gay in this film WHAT’S THE POINT.

    But personally, it will never be gayer than when bitty me became obsessed with a fairly subpar trilogy of films because of Lucy Liu.

  5. I mean, this is the biggest stretch in the history of stretching, but KStew’s character is called Sabina, and her name in that amazing(ly gay) SNL Totinos commercial is Sabine, sooooooooooooooooo

    • In the movie version of The Unbearable Lightness of Being, isn’t the character named Sabina bisexual? Or Tereza is infatuated with Sabina? Maybe (huge speculation) GayStew was/is influenced by her. I haven’t seen it in about 20 years so I can’t remember for sure. I do know that Sabina read as mighty queer to tiny teenage me back then. All that business with the bowler hat…

  6. I finally watched Derry Girls yesterday, after putting it on my list based on Heather’s review, and I legit cried laughing at the end of the first episode. So good! Excited that there will be more seasons.

  7. I read “Jane Kano (Ella Balinska), the ex-MI6 muscle of the group”….and then I looked at the photo and was disappointed that Ms. Balinska biceps, triceps, traps,nor delts are ripped. Do I just want too much?

  10. I like the cast of Wine Country as I grew up watching most of them on SNL. The only person it seems like missing would have been Molly Shannon(who is very good in the Other Two).

    • Yes! WC looks fab but Molly Shannon would’ve made it better. She is in a film with similar themes: Fun Mom Dinner, which wasn’t as funny as I’d hoped, but still pretty good.
