Today on Autostraddle: Robin our photoblogger took amazing photos of Fischerspooner and PEACHES and Carlytron wrote all about it, and now you will look at it, and you will read it, and you will love it! Okay, big day for music because also Stef’s The Beat on the Street covers Amanda Palmer’s play, Vivian and Bat for Lashes … Also obvs the Autostraddle Hot 100!
AND! I don’t remember the idea behind this particular gallery — usually they are thematic (shorts for summer!) or particular to me and my interests (girls in hoodies! girls in boyshorts! girls in menswear!). So I have no proper intro for this idea which I really do think was once related to … something. Girl-on-Gallery: Say it With a T-Shirt!
Also! Also. Also. Today’s final Team Pick is very exciting for the Team!! Look at it!

I don’t even think on a conscious level gay women were aware that we were hungry for that kind of reference to these lives that we live … in the beginning there was so much that we were upset about … Shane and Alice would come up with gay expressions and I would think ‘What the fuck? Ilene is just making this shit up!” (thanks to green @uhhuhherfan for the scans!)

from Stef:
This Sunday, as part of the continued effort to make all vegetarians look like we are totally insane, there’s a Veggie Pride Parade taking place in New York City. For the second year running, participants will wear costumes, carry signs, and listen to speakers and exhibitions about the vegetarian lifestyle. I think you can win gift certificates to restaurants there as well? There will also be a “naming ceremony” for small children in vegetable costumes. Uhh, I’m not sure how many people this parade will convert, but it will probs be a sight to behold.

from Alex:
I have two words for you: PF fucking Flyers.

from Intern JK: Right now, I’m giddy about the June 2nd release of Grace Around the World, a new CD/DVD containing previously unreleased Jeff Buckley material. For those lucky enough to be in the Hollywood area on June 9th, there’s also an official release event with live performances, a discussion panel, a silent auction, and an exhibit of Jeff’s original artwork. Plus, all event proceeds go to the Silverlake Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, a non-profit organization designed to facilitate music education for the youth.

from Green Laneia: Hi! My Staff Pick today is ME. More specifically, my name — it’s not really Green. My name’s Laneia. Hi! I’m Laneia. You pronounce it like this: lah-nee-ah. I pronounce it like this: leh-nee-ah, because I think it sounds nicer that way. Anyway, I was tired of being the only member of the team with an alias. My name is Laneia! I have too many vowels!
green has a name! this is so exciting!

i’m constantly being bombarded with lesbians talking about being in love with the philadelphia flyers [hockey], so you can understand my relief when i clicked on the link and realized alex was talking about shoes and not sports. i. want. those. kicks.
Oh totally. I’m like you, Laura, I only do the Olympics.
i’m so excited laneia has a name!
and that she’s adorable!
and that tinkerbell smells good!
Green has a lot of vowels too.
But Laneia sounds stellaaaaaaaaaa, yeah
OMG, maybe Tinkerbell is an alias too? A fresh smelling alias that can’t be washed away in the washing machine and is squeeze-proof.
“What the fuck? Ilene is just making this shit up!” -> good to know I’m not alone in this thought. Thanks for the link to the Diva article.
Also, Laniea…Holla!
Of course I mean… Laneia, holla!
is there no more how do you like us now?
no there is … but for some reason it takes me forever to do it! getting last week’s score, adding it up, something … I dunno … maybe I’m bad at math! maybe I need to make the interns do the math … :-)
well i am more than sure one of us would do it.. but I feel as though you have your own personal point system haha
