It’s time for your weekly Pop Culture Fix, another link round-up on Autostraddle dot com where we remind you that Ellen Page is over everyone’s shit!
+ Last night, Drunk History followed up an episode that starred Samira Wiley and Amandla Stenberg with an episode that featured Alison Brie and Sugar Lyn Beard and Thea Spyer and Edie Windor, and also starred Trace Lysette in the John Wojtowicz/Elizabeth Eden story. The episode is all about looooove. (This is the second episode of the season to feature Kirby Howell-Baptiste, who you probably know mostly as Simone from The Good Place, but it’s a good time to get to know her more!)
+ Lady Gaga loves Janelle Monáe and Janelle Monáe loves Lady Gaga right back.
+ The Bold Type has a season three trailer! Kat’s running for city council! There’s way too much Richard and Sutton already! The show is back on April 9th!
+ Killing Eve had its press day at TCA over the weekend and Sandra Oh had a little speculation about whether or not Villanelle and Eve’s, um, relationship can withstand that — spoiler! — gouging.
+ Queer Eye‘s back on March 15th, and here’s a trailer featuring Carley Rae Jepsen’s new bop.
+ Maggie Lindemann talked to Nylon about why coming out was complicated.
+ Into the Badlands has been axed by AMC. Also cancelled: Counterpart on Starz.
+ Beloved lesbian TV critic and queer sleuth Valerie Anne has sussed out some “gay couch sitting” at the 52-second mark in the trailer for the CW’s new series, In the Dark.
+ The Favourite won seven entire BAFTA’s this weekend.
+ Teddy Geiger and Emily Hampshire plan to elope.
+ Cyrus finally said “I’m gay” on Andi Mack, making him the first character to say the words out loud on the Disney Channel.
+ Earlier this week, Natalie shared this link with me because she knew seeing the names “Sarah Shahi” and “Dolly Parton” in the same headline would set my heart aflutter: Melissa Leo, Sarah Shahi Join Netflix’s Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings.
+ Heart, Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett, and Brandi Carlile are going on tour together.
+ And finally, who knows if Elsa’s really getting a girlfriend, but the teaser for Frozen 2 is here and HOLY CATS, Y’ALL.
Now I’m obsessed with that Frozen trailer. I did not expect it to have such an effect!
It’s the music. Same thing happened to me.
The girl with the brown hair in the autumnal Forrest was Elsa’s girlfriend. Mark it down.
I’m convinced that is Evan Rachel Wood’s role and also that you are 100% correct
Was that not Anna? I have trouble telling animated characters apart especially with the trailer moving so fast, so I might be wrong.
1:24 to 1:25 does not seem like Anna.
Kirby Howell-Baptiste also plays Elena on Killing Eve. I’m really hoping her character isn’t killed off given The Good Place season finale!
I have a very important addition to this amazing list: Derry Girls season 2 trailer is out!

I saw that Andi Mack video earlier in the week on tumblr and it was great for visibility in youth. But, can we for a second talk about the fact that Cyrus is visibly Jewish in that scene, which I am not sure of the statistics on tv, but makes him one of the few LGBTQ characters who are of a minority religion on tv. That’s pretty big news to me. Though it has me worried a little that those homophobic groups(generally Christian conservatives) might get anti-semitic with their homophobia. Fuck, why do conservatives have to ruin everything, including me just enjoying a visibly Jewish kid coming out.
Edie Windor <3
The Favourite snapped up SEVEN BAFTAs including Best Actress for Olivia Colman and I’m so pleased my favourite movie of the year is getting the recognition and accolades it deserves. Fingers crossed for a victorious Oscar night too!
Also, I’ve watched the new Frozen trailer more times than I can count. The animation is seriously breathtaking. They’ve upped their game and I am EXCITED.
I still think that Elsa looks like Natalie Dormer.
I read that as Miley Cyrus finally said I’m gay on Andi Mack and that just shows you how I function on 4 hours of sleep!
that bold type link has a headline about richard and sutton which like. how badly can you miss the mark. who watches that show for *richard*
I am always surprised when I am reminded that straight people watch TV.
