Hello, and welcome to your weekly Pop Culture Fix, a primer on the best primers for your house and home.
+ I’ve started watching screeners for Hulu’s Shrill, based on the memoir by Lindy West and starring Aidy Bryant as “Annie,” which dropped a trailer last week.

What the trailer doesn’t make evident is that Fran, Annie’s roommate and BFF, is GAAAYYYY. I can’t tell you more than that because I don’t want to lose my Hulu privileges, but I just want you to know this so you can get even more excited about the show than you already are, a mission I am confident Hulu would support!
+ Netflix is debuting a new dating show that follows five REAL couples on their first dates and there are cute queers!
+ Isabella Gomez talks to Out Magazine about playing Elena in Season Three of One Day at a Time:
“I struggled most with this season acting-wise because it’s such personal topics that Elena deals with. But I’m proud of the work we did … on such a beautiful collaboration.”
+ The Walking Dead is about to introduce a new lesbian couple: Magna and Yumiko debuted in November, but only now has it been revealed that the duo are in fact a lesbian couple and this will be very clear when the show returns on February 10th. I wonder if they will die or not!
+ The Party of Five reboot is on and will focus on the five Acosta children, who find themselves parent-less after their mother and father are deported to Mexico. The original Party of Five was one of the first TV shows to feature a lesbian kiss — but only barely. Anyhow, here’s a pic of the new cast, no reason:
+ Apparently, Friends‘ lesbian wedding was blocked in certain locations:
It was important to us, and the producers, that we showed a couple that was in love. But certain affiliates wouldn’t air the episode with our [Carol and Susan’s] wedding. They completely blocked it out.

+ Grown-Ish has been renewed for a third season!
son of a bitch i have to keep watching the walking dead for heather.
I’m not surprised about Magna and Yumiko being a couple. They were all snuggled up together in one episode last season and Yumiko talked about how Magna is different with her or something like that.
As for their survival rate…well, it IS the Walking Dead. And if this particular storyline they have running right now is anything like it was in the comics then I don’t have high hopes for a good majority of the new characters we just met. Speaking of, I am so excited to see Samathana Morton as the new villain this year. This is the role that ultimately took her from Harlots.
Also Samantha Irby is working on Shrill so there’s a QPOC behind it!
Cannot WAIT to throw all my ad-watching eyeballs at Shrill. So many people I like behind it!
I’m so excited! Lindy West!
So Claudia is now tomboy Valentina Buendia, eh? (And, really, they went with the Buendia family?)
So much good content here
I just saw How I Felt When I Saw That Girl and came here looking to see if AS had reviewed it (yet?)– it’s somehow so much more heartfelt than I expected, despite hitting all the “predictable” notes. I’m rooting for its success; we need more joyful queer films! <3
Hey I just watched that new Netflix show and loved it! The description is off though. It’s not the first dates of five couples. It is the five first dates each for six singles. One of the singles is a queer guy and the another is a queer lady and they go on dates with five queer people each and pick one for a second date
