The Trigger is a Rabbit-inspired toy that promises to do something special: to stimulate the user’s g-spot in a way that feels more authentic to the way it often gets stimulated during partnered sex, with pressure from a sort of “come hither” motion. Instead of just vibrating inside you (or thrusting, as some of the Stronic range does), the insertable part of the Trigger vibrates and additionally curls upward toward the external stimulator (which also vibrates). Reader, there’s a lot going on.

The Trigger is controlled by three buttons on its base; a power button that turns it on, and two buttons on either side that control the various vibrating and motion capabilities. It’s worth it to try the controls on a dry run before trying to use this toy in the heat of the moment; it’s possible to use a range of different combinations of its features, but getting that right requires some familiarity with the buttons. One controls the come-hither motion, and the other cycles through the vibration patterns and intensity of both the internal stimulator and the external one. You can experience just the come-hither motion, just the vibration, both, or neither and just use it as a curved, rigid g-spot toy; it might just take a few tries to get to the one you want.

The come-hither feature, the most novel and intriguing part of the Trigger, is nothing to sneeze at; the range of motion is pretty impressive, and the motor fairly strong. It definitely does feel like upward pressure on your g-spot, and in a different way than you may have felt if you’re used to kind of angling or rocking a curved toy inside yourself by hand. The girth of the toy is solidly satisfactory, with ribbing of squishy silicone.

One unexpected caveat of the Trigger’s motion feature is that the motor is actually pretty strong, and the fulcrum of the toy’s curling movement is pretty much halfway down its length. What this means is that if the toy is inserted in you or an activity partner and not being held pretty firmly by a hand on its base, the base is just as likely to move back and forth outside of you while your internal muscles hold the inserted part of the toy still. While this is interesting from an aesthetic perspective, I guess, it probably isn’t going to provide the sensation you’re going for. This is not a flaw in the toy, per se, just means using it requires some focus and grip strength.

As with any Rabbit-style toy that includes an external antennae-style stimulator, your mileage will vary. Everyone’s body is shaped differently; it may or may not hit your genitals in a way that does anything for you with the rest of the toy inserted. One interesting thing about the external stimulator on the Trigger is its shape; the actual vibrating motor is housed in the center of the antennae, and the very tip is just a bit of squishy silicone that carries some residual vibrations from the motor. The copy for the Trigger says “the unique shape of the external stimulator connects with the body for a different and possibly more focused feel than the classic rabbit design”; a different way of saying that might be that the different points of vibration mean that one of them might be more likely to actually hit your clit. What’s neat is that the external stimulator’s connection to the rest of the toy is just very flexible silicone without a rigid core, so it moves around easily and can even just be moved to the side and out of the way to make room for fingers or another toy. The same convenient floppiness, though, means that you aren’t going to get any real pressure on your clit from this part of the toy, but more of a superficial vibration.

All in all, the Trigger ranks perfectly well within the pack of toys like it! The internal vibration is respectably strong, although definitely more buzzy than rumbly. The external vibration probably won’t do it for anyone who needs intense clitoral stimulation, but also Rabbit-style toys are always going to be a roll of the dice on that front anyway. Maybe the biggest criticism of the Trigger is that it doesn’t necessarily offer the best experience of any one of the individual features it offers, but if you want all of them together in one package, this is the toy for you!
