Trick-or-treat! Buffy (the Vampire Slayer) said that Halloween is “come as you aren’t” night, but I think it’s the opposite. Halloween is the night when I wear my favorite boots from college and the tights with all the holes and my hairy legs look just right in my black dress. I’m a witch, every year I’m a witch, and I get to dress exactly how I want without anybody judging me, and I fucking love it. I hope you had a spectacular night!
This week, you dressed up your beautiful selves in the Autostraddle Halloween Community Gallery!
Riese brought us Queer Books Across America, the most beautiful reading list I have ever seen.
Rachel brought us An Investigation of Gay Situationships, a Time-Honored and Life-Ruining Tradition. Listen,
Kayla talked up the merits of the one song on repeat, a time-honored tradition for me since the seventh-grade slumber party when we listened to the Spice Girls’ Wannabe for a literal 24 hours straight.
A.E. wrote about the models of masculinity reflected in the Dream Daddy comics.
The newest quarterly issue, But Make It Fashion, is HERE! The inaugural essay absolutely blew me away.
And there were your comments.

OMG in all my years on this site (since 2010 or 2011) this is my first comment award!! I did comment a lot this week though, it’s been slow at work and y’all have been putting out such great content <3
Yayyyy Lavendula!
(why is big bird not dancing, big bird is supposed to be DANCING)
Did you put a 5 dollar bill on his g-string?
NO.
Well then no wonder Big Bird isn’t dancing!
He works hard for the money
So hard for it, honey
He works hard for the money
So you better treat him right …
You Killed me, @carmensandiego. YOU’RE THE QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!
Huzzah!
I was not expecting to win an award this week, so I don’t have a speech prepaired.
Just come as you are, Al :-D
Tampon update: created clots and gore with pudding, finger paint, ketchup, HP sauce, and red lipstick. Turns out red lipstick stains torsos and now I look like I have a flesh disease. I love sexy costumes.
SEXY PLAGUE TAMPON
Thanks QG !
I loooove the award names, they crack me up so much ! Each week they’re better than the week before, how do you do it ?!?
Same! One of my favorite parts of Friday!
AW BABES ?
Usually my thoughts when I read the Comment Awards are along the lines of “wow, the ladies of Autostraddle are so funny!” And while that was true this week (well done, friends!) it was accompanied by a lot of “what? I didn’t see that article?” It appears that I just forgot to Internet this week.
So, thanks QG, for this incredibly handy round up!
Everything’s been so goooooood lately!
True. It’s like a new golden age of AS
QG you’re so awesome
Love you Carms!
This is the truest thing on the interwebs.
I have sorta philosophic thoughts about “come as you aren’t” I think it’s more come as you don’t get to be.
Buffy was “normal” girly-girl, daddy’s little princess and then had to be this lone warrior with all that responsibility while still being just a kid who misses her dad.
Thus the 18th century lady’s costume and uh “pursuit” (she was 16!) of Angel, a want to be cherished and just a girl for a moment.
Lex! I love this!
I hated it when I realized it.
Made me want to steal Buffy and swaddle her in blankets and bubble wrap. :(
And give Angel a lapful of holy water. >_>
