Stephanie Beatriz Is Making Us Feel Ten Times More Bisexual This Sunday Funday

Hello my little ice cream cones! We just finished Pride/my birthday month/Gemini season and so to you I say: welcome to July. I spent the past week cleaning out my closets and donating/selling clothes and pretending to read for my thesis. I almost saw a rainbow! I also just got a new bike and I put it together by myself and I felt so powerful and strong afterwards, so I had a dance party to this song right here.

Happy Sunday!

Have You Heard of Hamilton: An American Musical?

Celebs and regular people alike have been going all in for Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda’s newest fundraiser/challenge. The #Ham4All Challenge is part of an effort to raise money for the Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition. The coalition is made of 12 unique organizations with the goal providing services to immigrants, refugees, and asylees in the United States, such as legal representation, advocacy, and awareness campaigns.

Evan Rachel Wood satisfies us with a rendition of “Satisfied”.

Stephanie Beatriz made me feel 10 times more bisexual as she performed “Guns and Ships”.

Ellen Page is a Small Canadian Star

Do you like acoustic covers of Britney Spears that fill you with longing and modern dance? Yeah, me too.

Look! KaeLyn’s Beautiful Perfect Face on a Mural!!!

Mural by Sarah Rutherford

“Her Voice Carries” is a mural project in Rochester, NY by artist Sarah Rutherford honoring five local women, including our very own Kaelyn! The public art project is blending together visual art and storytelling to lift up women’s voices. The murals are being put up all over the city, including a Planned Parenthood. About the murals, Rutherford says, “My hope is that this will be a collective thread as you travel the city, you can kind of feel both location wise and the different stories that are being told”. The project has an Indiegogo that could still use a boost!

Gabby Rivera Tells Us the True Meaning of Pride

pride is queer black and brown magic.
pride is the disruption of white supremacy and heteronormativity.
pride is the first time your brown queer everything is affirmed by the consensual kiss and hug and love of another brown queer.
pride is your mom wishing you happy pride cuz she finally gets it and has always loved you.
pride is telling corporations to go fuck themselves and keeping police out.

pride is pulse.
pride isn’t for sale.
pride is a brick through a window.

Fifteen creatives talked to Teen Vogue about what Pride means to them as we close out the month of June. Check it out and get a little inspired.

Come Hang Out in Texas(?)!

Disappointed by how quickly lesbian bars were closing, two lesbian wives in Texas created Wolfpack Productions as a way to help LGBTQ women in the Lonestar State build community. They now host a “resort takeover weekend for LGBTQ women” called Plezzure Island. I know; it’s a thing of beauty. This year’s Plezzure Island is a four-day adventure at a beachfront resort in South Padre Island, happening in late September. Seen as a Texas based alternative to Dinah shore, there will be pool parties, beach parties, DJs, speed-dating, and even a “PJ soiree”. All this, plus the big blue Texas sky…what wouldn’t make you want to come here?

  1. So, so happy about Sense8

And so, so excited that I get to see Hamilton in London next January. #Ham4All has been seriously amazing too. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

    • THANK YOU! It’s the mini-mural. There will be a bigger one, which is quite terrifying!

  2. One of the greatest mysteries of my life is how nobody corrected me when I enthused, “I love that Chaka Khan song, Climb Every Woman” until I was TWENTY SIX.
