Drawn to Comics is going up a day early this week so that I can make a special announcement about a great new release from Limerence Press, the erotic comics offshoot of Oni Press. I was really excited when Oni announced Limerence Press; Oni has been putting out some of the best comics in the country recently, and there’s been a spot missing in the industry for a quality erotica publisher. With the decision to publish an omnibus edition of Colleen Coover’s Small Favors as Small Favors: The Definitive Girly Porno Collection, they’ve done exactly what I hoped they’d do and are putting some extremely high quality queer erotica on the market. According to Coover’s own website, the book is described as “a light-hearted erotic romance about a young woman named Annie and the sprite-like physical manifestation of her conscience, Nibbil.”

Small Favors was originally published by Fantagraphics’ Eros Comix imprint but has been out of print for a while. The new edition from Limerence will include both volumes of the series as well as the never-before-collected color special, an introduction by Bitch Planet writer Kelly Sue DeConnick and special behind-the-scenes materials. According to Limerence Press, Small Favors is “a classic masterpiece of lady-friendly erotica… The critically-acclaimed girly porno comic by Eisner Award-winning cartoonist Colleen Coover is back in a deluxe hardcover edition and we invite you to join the fun and meet Annie and her tiny taskmaster Nibbil in erotic adventures sure to make you blush.”

The book is also being published with a new cover that looks wonderful and terrific. If Limerence’s own quote isn’t enough, DeConnick herself said the book “could not be cuter if it came wrapped in fluffy bunnies and ribbons made of giggle,” and Prism comics praised it as being a “delightfully cosy” read with characters whose “sexual antics are borne out of affection as well as lust, and that even the most depraved things they can think of to do to one another are done with a win and a cheeky grin.”

Everyone who’s a fan of erotic comics or cute comics or comics for women should check this out; these preview pages make it seem really, really adorable and I can’t wait to check it out. Sorry we’ve only got safe for work stuff for you — if you want to see the good stuff, you’re going to have to buy the book. It’ll be worth it, I promise. Plus, it’s always great to support indie publishers like Limerence who are bringing titles like this to us. If we want more erotic comics for women, we need to put our money where our mouths are.

Small Favors: The Definitive Collection will be released April 26 of next year and features 256 pages, including the 16 page color special. The retail price will be $29.99 and it’s intended for audiences 18 and up.
