Oh hi! Let’s hop to it, Sal!* So many people came out this week: Anderson Cooper, Megan Rapinoe, and Frank Ocean! We celebrated Canada with Canadians, and America with pies cream sandwiches. Plus, we talked about Richmond, VA and Denver, CO, which are both cities in the USA where queer girls run rampant! Maybe in their rompers. Maybe not. Speaking of queer girls, Riese made a listling of how you all identified on our reader survey. Lizz caught up and on Pretty Little Liars and Riese prepped us for the torture that will be the new Real L Word. We had two editions of TIRTIL this week, Rachel let us know that reading fiction builds character so you should totally build some shelves for your character-building books. Whitney wrote a thing about her family and getting married, and Nicole wrote a thing about airline discrimination. Meanwhile, there was an update on the shooting in Texas, London’s World Pride was “scaled down,” and the supreme court thinks oppression is whack. Once again, Rachel is there for you when you don’t know what to say, or when to say it. Isis King and Janet Mock talked about trans women in the media and The Advocate remembered Stonewall. Carmen filled us in on all the stuff we missed this week, including but not limited to Rachel Maddow. Jess interviewed Vicci Martinez and Elaine told us about Heathers. Lastly, Brittany is the new calendar girl, and we’re looking for a lesbianagette to recount their adventures in college! And you know what’s coming up?? BRUNCH! You should all go to brunch. Brunch. Brunch. Brunch! Any questions?
*Sal is the name I just made up for you. All of you. I feel weird today.

honorary comment award
I’m still outraged about the senseless ruination of Nutella. Allie is right: Penises ruin everything I love. Mankinis have ruined bikinis forever…
i can put this on my resume, right?
Hey Autostraddle, I love you and everything but that ‘penises ruin everything’ comment is completely not cool. Some girls have penises, y’know…
That original “penises ruin everything” comment was made in response to a sex tip that advised someone to stick their penis into a jar of Nutella in order to receive a blowjob. Nutella is awesome – but when you stick your genitals into the jar – the whole thing is ruined. Same thing goes for apple pies, watermelons, etc.
If you have a vagina, then it’s unlikely that you would be able to physically submerge it into an entire jar of Nutella (thus ruining the whole jar). Instead you would likely have to get a spoon and dollop it onto your vagina (thus saving the unused and genital-free portion from ruination and having it for later consumption).
…So, while one could say that “penises ruin everything” (at least when it comes to edible things that those twig and berries can – and do – dip themselves into), it is reasonable that this statement would also exclude the inclusion of a vagina because they are not physically able to “dip” into such things.
tl;dr – it was made in jest and in relation to a food comment. yes some women have penises.
**(this post is the result of vodka, sleep deprivation, and past philosophical wondering on genitals).
It was not my intention to offend anyone, man or woman, with a penis. The comment was indeed made in jest and I see now that I did not put as much forethought into it as I should have. If I have indeed offended anyone with my unfortunate and unintentionally flippant comment I am truly sorry. Please accept my deepest and most sincere apologies.
i’m laughing because i hope all of this is a joke. it sure is hard to tell around here. there’s a fine line between smart & witty vs completely devoid of humor.
