Maple Syrup
Maple syrup is one of those things that just makes life a little bit better, and I’m not even Canadian. It’s also one of the best parts of brunch – there’s something kind of perfect about starting your day with something sweet and rich and lush like maple syrup.
Now, don’t be fooled by gross, cheap syrups in the grocery store. Make sure you always buy the one that says maple syrup specifically, or else you’re basically just getting corn syrup. Not the same. Not even in the same league.
Maple syrup has a billion uses, and most of them seemed to be paired with bacon or pecans. I’m down with both. You don’t have to restrict your maple love to your pancakes and waffles any longer. Here are 37 delicious ways to pair maple syrup with just about everything:
1. Walnut Sage Scones with Brown Butter Maple Glaze
2. Maple Syrup Pie
3. Maple Mustard BBQ Chicken

I’m literally salivating. Drool actually, literally, for real dripped onto my arm. I am revolting and I don’t even care. LET ME EAT ALL THE THINGS
Wonders if it’s possible to make a vegan version of #29.
That one is a paleo version, so it’s dairy-free already! I think they use coconut ice cream.
Now, as for the bacon… Fake meat that shit up!
I’d say tempeh cut into strips with some soy sauce, maple syrup and a few spices, and liquid smoke if you have some (I don’t, but I heard it works great), and then sautéed cripy.
Hi Al,
You can simply leave out the bacon! The cookies themselves are vegan, the ice cream I used is made from coconut milk, and you can roll the ice cream in whatever you’d like. Or, you can try your hand at “coconut bacon” http://www.fettlevegan.com/recipes/coconut-bacon. Enjoy!
For the record, maple and chicken go together so well. and bacon. bacon.
Ohmygodohmygod #22
My mother’s favorite kind of cookie is a macaroon and it seems as if every g-free every recipe and bakery uses xanthum or guar gum which fuck with body as badly or worse than glunten. She has my nut butter cookies and Spanish almond things like turron, all my curds, and my berry pie things to work with but not her beloved macaroons.
Until now.
Her birthday is in September, I think she might cry when I give those gluten free coconut macaroons as a present.
Once again autostraddle ya hit me right in the feels but when I least expected it.
maple apple pie! i don’t have a specific recipe but my friend and i made it once and it’s great (and easy, because the maple syrup helps provide that gooey inside situation without having to mess with thickeners and stuff)
I discovered avodillas recently and oh my god. It’s just avocado in a tortilla, fried with butter/margarine and maple syrup. It’s incredible.
…I need to be able to try one (or seven) of those right now.
‘Maple Bacon Snickerdoodle Ice Cream Sandwich’ – that’s like, a list of my favourite things. #youguys
