Hello and welcome to this thing we’re doing where we help you figure out what you’re gonna put in your mouth this week. Some of these are recipes we’ve tried, some of these are recipes we’re looking forward to trying, all of them are fucking delicious. Tell us what you want to put in your piehole or suggest your own recipes, and we’ll talk about which things we made, which things we loved, and which things have changed us irreversibly as people. Last week, we ate squash.
Amazing main dishes are great, but we’d all be hard pressed to find one that wasn’t improved by just the right sauce, spread or garnish. Whether you got stuck with leftovers of Aunt Ida’s bland mac and cheese after Thanksgiving, you’re bored of your normal cold cut sandwich you pack for work, or you’re a student and plain rice and beans is becoming monotonous, the answer is an out-of-this-world condiment. Find the one for you!
Yum! Also an excellent way to bring more color into the dark winter abyss. (Or just onto your dinner plate, if you like cold weather and short days more than I do.)
I didn’t know I needed this but for real I really really do; also glad to be reading up on regional sauces that are new to me and sound so delicious, like harissa (which Wikipedia tells me is Tunisian) and many others. Thanks!
Oh, this is heaven.
i love condiments.
also, homemade ketchup always reminds me of ‘meet me in st. louis’ which is arguably judy garland’s best work and perfect to watch this holiday season when i should be doing other things like writing a personal statement.
i did not know about meet me in st. louis; i will investigate it immediately!
I LOVE MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, I played the Judy Garland part in elementary school! It was probably an adorable sight.
Food is just an excuse for me to eat sauce.
Sheeeeet, that’s a lot of sauce.
Bookmarked. This is the kind of thing that will keep me gourmet af for the rest if my life. <3
this post actually made my heart flutter.
Thank you so much for including my Georgian Plum Sauce! :)
I’m sorry, but #29 doesn’t look like Chimichurri, I’m from Argentina so I know that magic mix of condiments, we eat that almost every Sunday with our parrillada.
The ones with the non-descriptive names intrigue me to most. Here dinner guests, we have Magic Sauce, Green Sauce, Green Drizzle , Green Goddess Dressing , and Special Sauce, all for your enjoyment.
