Hello and welcome to this thing we’re doing where we help you figure out what you’re gonna put in your mouth this week. Some of these are recipes we’ve tried, some of these are recipes we’re looking forward to trying, all of them are fucking delicious. Tell us what you want to put in your piehole or suggest your own recipes, and we’ll talk about which things we made, which things we loved, and which things have changed us irreversibly as people. Last week, we packed our picnic baskets.
Are dumplings the perfect food? The case can certainly be made. They’re incredibly diverse, tasty and comforting, are excellent to freeze for later, and can be paired with a dizzying array of sauces and soups to form almost any kind of meal. For the purposes of this food list, a dumpling is any dough stuffed with a filling — and a food item that you usually need to eat at least a handful of in order to make a meal, thus differentiating them from larger filled doughs like hand pies, empanadas, samosas, etc. (Although that would also make an excellent food list.)

This is my favorite dumpling recipe. I pretty much eat it non-stop throughout the cooler months.
I went to a Tibetan restaurant while I was away at a 3 day class for my PhD and the momo soup was possibly the most comforting food experience of my life. Thanks for the link to the veggie ones!
Looks like The Team are really big fans of goat cheese. :p I approve.
I’m hungry just looking at these.
yes please
I’ve only made dumplings twice, and both times I’d been invited to a dumpling-making party by Chinese families. Basically, I would manage one sad-looking, wonky, misshapen item for every 5 everyone else was beautifully forming. So I haven’t necessarily pursued this, despite my love for all kinds of dumplings from everywhere.
But now, I WANT ALL THE DUMPLINGS. And I could definitely use some practice if I ever want to have some friends over for a dumpling-making party, because they’re just the best :-)
I’ll take one of everything.
Things wrapped in dough are the most perfect food of all.
I had dumplings last night and I do believe they are tied with pasta as “Best Food”.
Thanks for including my beef cheek ravioli recipe. All these dumpling dishes look amamzing.
Thank you so much for including my Russian Meat Pelmeni!
